The one-of-a-kind program houses future teachers in the Roaring Fork Valley near Aspen, Colo., where they live together and perform community service in addition to teaching. By being part of the community the students learn about the lives of their students outside of the classroom, according to Liz Meador, co-director of the Roaring Fork project.

Roy Romer will deliver the keynote address at a special recognition ceremony for graduates of the University of 欧美口爆视频 School of Law on May 15 beginning at 2 p.m. in Macky Auditorium. The governor earned his law degree from the 欧美口爆视频 School of Law in 1952, and his son Tom is a member of this year's law school graduating class. Justice Alex Martinez, who was appointed to the 欧美口爆视频 Supreme Court in 1996 by Gov. Romer, will receive the Honorary Order of the Coif.

Donated to the applied mathematics department in the College of Arts and Sciences and the computer science department in the College of Engineering and Applied Science, the machine is a smaller version of the massive machines at U.S. Department of Energy research laboratories.

Leonard Wright, a doctoral student in civil engineering at 欧美口爆视频-Boulder and a graduate research assistant at the Natural Hazards Research and Applications Information Center, is the nation's first recipient of the Floodplain Management Graduate Fellowship. Wright will be awarded $25,000 by the Association of State Floodplain Managers Inc. for research that will estimate the level of flooding and environmental costs that can be attributed to urban development. The award follows a national competition in which graduate students submitted research proposals.
