The Alumni Association of the University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ at Boulder will host the Golden Anniversary Reunion and Alumni Awards Ceremony May 14-16, sandwiched around the university's spring commencement ceremony.
A record-breaking number of graduates of the class of 1948 and years prior -- about 225 people -- are expected to attend the festivities.
William Royal of Boulder, an electrical engineering graduate and member of the class of 1928, will represent the earliest class attending the reunion.
Among the events for alumni will be a special Boulder Navy reception, Languors Away IV, which will honor Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ graduates who served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. The reception will be held at the office of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ President John C. Buechner on Thursday, May 14, at 4:45 p.m.
On Friday, May 15, about 75 members of the class of 1948, wearing their academic regalia, will continue the longtime tradition of leading the procession that initiates the university commencement ceremony. Following the ceremony, President Buechner will address the alumni at the Golden Anniversary Reunion luncheon.
The same weekend, the Alumni Association will present its 68th Annual Alumni Awards, honoring four individuals for their distinguished achievement and service to the university and community. The award ceremony will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 14, in Old Main. The following awards will be presented:
George Norlin Award: Peter Dietze, who earned two Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ degrees and served as a Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ regent for 18 years.
