Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Gives Day is an annual statewide movement to celebrate and increase philanthropy in Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ through online giving. The Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Combined Campaign is designed to provide you ease of giving through online pledging and mont hly payroll deduction. Combine the two this Tuesday, Dec. 8, and you can give to more than 600 Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ-based nonprofits all throughout 2016. University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder Provost Russell L. Moore today announced that Robert H. Davis, dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Science, will step down as dean and return to the chemical and biological engineering faculty effective on or about June 30, 2017. Moore plans to launch a targeted national search for the next dean in January 2016.

Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ-Boulder Vice Chancellor for Strategic Relations Frances Draper announced Wednesday that Bronson Hilliard, assistant vice chancellor for Strategic Media Relations, will be leaving Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ-Boulder on Dec. 16 to accept a position as senior associate with the Denver-based consulting firm GBSM.

Hour of Code, which is actually a week’s worth of events celebrating the joy of coding while removing barriers to computer science for underrepresented groups, will be held Dec. 7 to 13 at the University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder, in the community and online.

With the end of the semester in sight and the holiday season approaching, I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to each of you for your work and dedication to the university over the past year. As a way to show that appreciation beyond just words, I am pleased to announce that the Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ-Boulder campus will extend the university New Year’s holiday this year to include Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015 as a university holiday.

As the semester winds down and we look forward to Winter Commencement, it is a good time to reflect on what has been a wild semester here at Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ-Boulder. From everyday stresses to global events arriving on our doorstep, we know that many people in our community have been impacted by crisis and trauma. Please take care of yourself in this push to the end of the semester and finals – get some sleep, eat well, exercise and drink plenty of water – and, if you need additional support, please contact one of our many campus resources to get the help you need.

University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder scientist Steven Maier, who discovered a brain mechanism that not only produces resilience to trauma but aids in coping with future adversity, has won the 2016 University of Louisville Grawemeyer Award for Psychology. The award is among the most prestigious in the field of psychology and comes with a no-strings-attached $100,000 prize.

This Thursday, Dec. 3, the new Human Capital Management (HCM) system will debut and human resources functions in MyÅ·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵInfo, like Leave, Pay Stub, and Benefits Snapshot, will have a brand new look and feel. New Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Careers functionality will also be introduced Dec. 3, and a new job applicant interface will roll out Saturday, Dec. 5.
