From teaching to trees: reflecting on four decades at ŷڱƵ-Boulder

After 42 years of service to the University of ŷڱƵ Boulder, including stints as professor, department chair, researcher and recently as vice provost and associate vice chancellor for undergraduate education, Michael Grant will retire from the university this spring. One constant through all his years with ŷڱƵ-Boulder has been his love of teaching and the classroom.

Michael Kercheval named executive director of ŷڱƵ Real Estate Center

David Ikenberry, dean of the Leeds School of Business at the University of ŷڱƵ Boulder, today announced the appointment of global business leader Michael P. Kercheval as executive director of the ŷڱƵ Real Estate Center (ŷڱƵREC). The appointment is effective July 1.

Today the Board of Regents of the University of ŷڱƵ approved a tuition and mandatory fees guarantee for resident students at the University of ŷڱƵ Boulder by a vote of 7-2.

Today, Senior Vice Chancellor Kelly Fox named Katherine Erwin Interim Chief Human Resources Officer. Scott Morris, who was named CHRO in December 2014, is currently on leave from the university.

ŷڱƵ-Boulder Provost Russell L. Moore today announced four finalists for the position of dean of ŷڱƵ Law. They are S. James Anaya, Mary Anne Bobinski, Laura E. Gómez and Angela Onwuachi-Willig. Public sessions with each of the candidates will be held on campus Feb. 29 through March 16.

David Kang named ŷڱƵ-Boulder vice chancellor for infrastructure and safety

University of ŷڱƵ Boulder Senior Vice Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer Kelly Fox has named David Kang as vice chancellor for infrastructure and safety, effective May 16. Kang replaces Larry Levine, who filled the position on an interim basis after Steve Thweatt retired in mid-October.

Katherine Schultz named next ŷڱƵ-Boulder School of Education dean

University of ŷڱƵ Boulder Provost Russell L. Moore has named Katherine Schultz dean of the School of Education effective Aug. 1, 2016. Schultz succeeds Lorrie Shepard, who is returning to the faculty as a distinguished professor after 15 years as dean. Schultz presently serves as professor and dean of the School of Education at Mills College, a liberal arts and sciences college in Oakland, California.

Mary Kraus named vice provost and associate vice chancellor for undergraduate education

University of ŷڱƵ Boulder Provost Russell L. Moore has named Mary J. Kraus as vice provost and associate vice chancellor for undergraduate education, effective June 1, 2016. Kraus succeeds Michael Grant, who will retire on June 30 after 42 years at ŷڱƵ-Boulder. “Michael’s commitment to and passion for the success of our undergraduate students is unparalleled throughout his career and this is clearly evident in the programs he has developed and managed during his tenure at the university,” Moore said. “Mary has the vision, enthusiasm and knowledge to build on those successes.”

New ŷڱƵ-Boulder director of ombuds announced

University of ŷڱƵ Boulder Provost Russell L. Moore today announced that Kirsi Aulin has been appointed as the new campus ombuds. Aulin replaces Tom Sebok, who retired in December 2015 after 25 years of building and directing the ŷڱƵ-Boulder Ombuds Office.
