Expanding our Educational Outreach and Broadening Participation contribute to the larger impact of our Institute - leading our nation towards a future where all students— especially those whose identities are underrepresented in STEM—routinely engage in rich and rewarding collaborative learning by working in teams composed of diverse students and AI Partners. We are promotingÌýsocial justice by implementing an entire curriculum focused on social justice topics, partnering with diverse stakeholders including our partner districts'Ìýteachers for AI curriculum developmentÌýthat will reach close to 1500 students this year, andÌýengaging a diverse group of students through our Learning FuturesÌýworkshops.ÌýWe have launched programs to develop the skills of current and future AI researchers.

Teachers who have experience with ourÌýSensor Immersion Curriculum are being recruited toÌýhelp usÌýdevelop and test technologies to facilitate classroom collaboration. Tר members will provide feedback on technological design components through interviews, surveys, and testing. Tר members will learn about and contribute to the development of cutting-edge collaborative technologies for classrooms.Ìý

High school Internship Program

This research experience program for high school students aims to develop the interns’ capacity to envision, co-create, critique, and apply student-AI collaborative learning technologies in their classrooms and beyond. The students willÌýlearn about iSAT’s research, collaborate with researchers, and complete a research project based on their interests, focusing on iSAT AI designs.Ìý

iSAT Community Events

iSAT isÌýexpanding its effort to support career pathways in AI and/or technology. Through community events, iSAT is working withÌýtrusted partners in K-12 to offer more diverse ways for K-12 students to engage with AI content and potential career pathways. This will help us broaden our presenceÌýin the community and grow the next generation of talent.Ìý
