What Is It?

An official transcript is aÌýcomprehensive recordÌýof your academic coursework and progress at the University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵÌýthat reflects earned degrees as well as credits accepted in transfer or by exam.

An unofficial transcriptÌýcontains the same information as an official transcript, but:

  • Lacks the authenticity features typically required by academic institutions and potential employers
  • Includes your academic probation information for advising purposes, if applicable
  • ¶Ù¾±²õ±è±ô²¹²â²õÌýyour preferred name (an official transcript displays your legal name)

Transcript Types

Select theÌýtranscript type that best meets your needs:

  • All Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ HistoryÌýincludes all coursework from any Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ campus (includes nondegree work; excludes noncredit work). You must select this transcript type if you took:
    • One or more graduate courses as a nondegree student
    • One or more Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ courses in or beforeÌý1988

    • Nondegree coursework for any career

  • Undergraduate, Graduate or Law OnlyÌýincludes coursework in the specified career only. Pre-1988 coursework is not available in this format.

  • Non-Credit OnlyÌýincludes noncredit coursework taken through Continuing Education.

Transfer Credits

Credits transferred from other institutions, including study abroad (starting Summer 2016),Ìýdisplay in the "Transfer Credit and/or Study Abroad Credit Applied"Ìýsection of your transcript.ÌýNote: Transfer credits are presented as total credits from each institution, not as individual courses.

AP/IB/CLEP Test Credits

Courses and credits appear in the "Transfer, Test and/or Study Abroad Credit Applied"ÌýsectionÌýand include the equivalent Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ course(s) for which credit was granted.

All official University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder transcripts are authenticated by the following criteria.

Front of transcript

  • Registrar's signature.
  • "The University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ" appearsÌýin large white type across the face of the document.
  • The university seal is printed on transcript background.
  • The wordsÌýParchment Official Document Anti-Copy WatermarkÌýwill appear when held at a 45-degree angle.
  • The wordsÌýParchment Official Document SealÌýwill appear when rubbed with a coin.
  • The hidden messageÌýUNOFFICIAL COPYÌýwill appear on copies made by most photocopiers.

Back of transcript

  • A hidden Parchment official document seal will fluoresce green under black light.
  • The wordsÌýParchment Official Document Anti-Copy WatermarkÌýwill appear when held at a 45-degree angle.
  • The wordsÌýParchment Official Document SealÌýwill appear when rubbed with a coin.

Official Electronic PDF Transcript

This is the fastest and most cost-effective way to send or receive an official transcript. PDF transcripts are available for download for 30 days after purchase. It is the purchaser's responsibility to ensure the recipient downloads the transcript within that time. No refunds are given forÌýdocuments not downloaded within 30 days.

Orders are typically processed withinÌýminutes, but may take up to a few hours during high-volume periods. Transcripts with pre-1988 coursework are processedÌýwithinÌý3 to 5 business days.

  • Electronic Delivery: $11 per PDF transcript

Paper transcripts are packaged individually and can only be ordered one at a time.

  • Orders placed by 2 p.m. Mountain Time are typically processed the same day; orders placed after 2 p.m. are processed the next business day.Ìý
  • Transcripts with pre-1988 coursework are processed within 3 to 5 business days.
  • If you pay for FedEx delivery, your transcript will be delivered by 8 p.m. the day after your order is processed.

As of Fall 2022, our office no longer provides college reports, transfer reports or dean's certifications. When applying to other schools you’ll need to send your official transcript directly to those schools by following the links under Order an Official Transcript, above.

The Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder transcript contains the information being requested, including, where applicable:

  • Transfer credits, AP or IB credits and study abroad credits
  • Cumulative and term GPA
  • Major (in progress)
  • Major, minor, academic certificates or licensures earned
  • Terms of enrollment
  • Degrees earned and degree honors
  • Academic suspensions or dismissals
  • Suspensions or expulsions due to student conduct or honor code violations

So long as students do not have a suspension, dismissal or expulsion noted on their official transcript, they are eligible to return to University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ.

Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Notary Services

A public notary is licensed by the State of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ to authenticate documents. Notary services may be found on campus, but policies regarding notarizing non-Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ-related documentationÌýdifferÌýby campus office and notary.Ìý

Local banks and UPS stores also provide notarization services for students and community members.ÌýIf you're seeking a notarization from aÌýUPS storeÌýon campus, please be sure to call ahead and schedule an appointment.

  3. Select your home institution andÌýtranscript type (see below for details), then click "View Unofficial Transcript."

If you no longer have access to Buff Portal:

  1. Recover your student ID.
  2. Reactivate your IdentiKey.
  3. Log into Buff Portal.
