Suzette Malveaux Receives Gilbert Goldstein Award

The 2023-24 Gilbert Goldstein Faculty Fellowship has been awarded to Suzette Malveaux, Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Law’s Moses Lasky Professor of Law and Director of the Byron R. White Center for the Study of American Constitutional Law. Awarded by the Dean, the fellowship provides one semester without teaching responsibilities to enable concentration on research and writing.

Like many people seeking a law degree, Emiliano (Milo) Salazar ’23 was eager to shift into a career that was more fulfilling. After graduating from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2012, Salazar spent 8 years working in software and considered a post graduate degree for a long time. However, what Milo did not anticipate was that his legal education at Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Law would equip him with the tools to reconstruct his family's Indigenous history.

Most Americans will face legal issues at some point in their life. Yet, across the nation, a persistent access to justice gap exists. Individuals with significant financial resources are often the only people who can hire attorneys, and a large class of people struggle to access a lawyer at all. Prof. Staci Pratt, who serves on the Technology Committee for the Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Access to Justice Commission, wants to empower her students to be part of the access to justice solution.

In August, Vivek Krishnamurthy joined the Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Law Faculty as Associate Professor of Law and director of the Samuelson-Glushko Technology Law and Policy Clinic. Krishnamurthy’s teaching, scholarship, and clinical legal practice focus on the complex regulatory and human rights-related challenges that arise in cyberspace.
