Application or Aid Status

If you are interested in the status of your financial aid, first in Buff Portal to see if there are any outstanding actions you must take to receive an aid offer. If you've completed all outstanding items, view your aid on the . If you have recently submitted a document via our online upload tool, please give us a couple of days to process. We receive many documents daily and may not be able to confirm what we've received by phone.

Holds & To Dos

Holds and To-Do's are listed in l and are very important to complete in a timely manner. If you recently submitted a form or document via our secure document upload, please provide us a couple days to process it. The status of your document will appear in Buff Portal. If you have a question about a particular to-do item, please make sure to mention that in your question.

Aid & the Bill

Learn how student aid and parent loans pay toward your university bill, when aid is applied and how you receive refunds on our Aid & the Bill webpage. If you haven't already, we encourage you to authorize your aid to pay for all university charges.

Complete MPN or Entrance Counseling

To complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) or Entrance Counseling, visit . MPNs and Entrance Counseling are mandatory by the federal government, so we may be limited in our ability to help you beyond pointing you to their resources.

Student Employment

Complete the Student Employment's email form with specific questions or visit our  for information on student jobs, work-study, job resources, and more.

Grants

Grants are typically offered to low-income students and can be a combination of federal, state and university funding. Eligibility for grand aid is based on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and when you applied (as it is first-come, first-served). Visit our grants webpage for more information.

Loans are available for undergraduate and graduate students. Federal Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans are need-based (i.e. provided for low-income families based on the FAFSA application).

Parent PLUS Loans

A Parent Plus Loan is available to parents of dependent undergraduate students. Read more details and how to apply on our Parent PLUS loan webpage.

Private Loan

Private student loans are offered by private lenders and eligibility depends on a credit score. We recommend that you complete a financial aid application before considering a private loan.

Loss of Income or Special Circumstances

Eligibility for financial aid is based on a prior tax year, which may not be indicative of the family's continuing ability to pay for educational expenses. The Office of Financial Aid is able to evaluate special circumstances on a case-by-case basis with adequate documentation. See step-by-step instructions on our special circumstances webpage.

Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

In order to receive financial aid, students must comply with Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). This policy requires students to maintain a certain GPA and complete a set percentage of the courses attempted. For more information about the policy, including specific requirements and the appeal process, visit our SAP webpage.

Withdrawal

Official withdrawals from the university are processed through the Registrar's office; however, your financial aid may be impacted as well. ASSET Aid Application (CASFA)

Housing costs

Select this option if the housing assumption on your financial aid offer is incorrect and let us know if you'll live on-campus, off-campus or with a parent while attending school.

  • The university requires all first-year undergraduate students to live in on-campus. Making a selection here does not release you from the requirement. To petition, you must request a housing exemption.
  • Keep in mind, if you request to change your housing allowance, your cost & financial aid could also change.
