Dr. Jack Burns photo with Moon on Science on the Sphere in the background

Jack's current research focuses on the design and flight of low radio frequency telescopes on the Moon, including the ROLSES and LuSEE-Night missions. These telescopes along with arrays such as FARSIDE and FarView will probe the unexplored Dark Ages and Cosmic Dawn of the Universe at redshifts 15-100. HeÌýwasÌýPrincipal Investigator of the Ìýa five-year, $3.5 million cooperative agreement from NASA to research the science and design of astronomical observatories on the Moon.

Burns' otherÌýresearch has involvedÌýnumerical simulations of clusters of galaxies for comparison with observational tests of the the growth of large-scale structure and cosmological tests such as the Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect. His observational background includes studies at both radio and X-ray wavelengths.Ìý
