The 2023-24 performance management cycle ends June 30th for university staff employees and July 31 for classified staff employees.  It’s time to start thinking about completing performance evaluations and setting goals for the next cycle!

University Staff Deadlines

• July 1: “Performance Planning Task” for 2024-25 became available in Cornerstone
• Aug. 23: Deadline to enter evaluations (for 2023-2024), and new performance goals (for 2024-2025) into Cornerstone for review by CEAS HR. New Hybrid Work Agreements are also due on this date to CEAS HR (supervisors should initiate these).
• Sept. 15: Deadline for CEAS HR to submit final evaluations to campus HR

Classified Staff Deadlines

Campus Closed July 4 | Admin Offices Closed July 5
ŷ���ڱ���Ƶ Boulder administrative offices will be closed on July 5, and most faculty and staff will be away from their work. Areas providing essential and critical services will remain open, and leaders of these units will determine appropriate staffing levels to ensure continued operations and service. Any staff, research faculty, or other faculty on 12-month appointments who are required to work this day should connect with their supervisors to identify alternative time off (by Dec. 31, 2024) based on the scheduling needs in their unit or department.

Due to the academic calendar, classes and finals will still be held on July 5 and should not be canceled by instructors. Libraries will remain open, and buildings hosting classes or finals will remain accessible. 

FY 2024-25 funding applications now open!
CEAS HR will start accepting applications for professional development funding in July until all the funds have been exhausted from the FY24-25 budget. Funding of up to $500 per staff member per fiscal year is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Applications are due Jan. 15
​If you plan to take an AY 2025-26, fall 2025, CY 2026 or spring 2026 sabbatical, please ensure your application is submitted to CEAS HR by the deadline. Please be aware that there is a new Sabbatical Application effective for this cycle, sabbaticals will only be accepted if the correct application is submitted. Visit our for more information.

Effective July 1, the minimum salary required for an employee to qualify for an exemption from overtime pay was increased.

The Position Management and Compensation Team and Research Faculty team in campus HR have communicated with departments that have employees impacted by the July 1 salary level increase to $43,888 per year. This change will mainly affect the FLSA exemption status of some part-time staff employees and some research faculty.

All CEAS employees and affiliates are required to successfully complete the Skillsoft training listed below, per the ŷ���ڱ���Ƶ Boulder Discrimination & Harassment Policy and the ŷ���ڱ���Ƶ Boulder Ethics & Compliance Plan Policy.

Wondering if you’re in compliance? Our CEAS HR team regularly conducts audits of training requirements and will contact anyone who still needs to complete any training. We will also follow up with unit HR leads regarding employees and affiliates who are out of compliance. On Aug. 22, Skillsoft will upgrade to Percipio. Percipio is a modern, up-to-date learning management system (LMS) that enables users to find required training and additional learning opportunities. Learners can access the same required courses and onboarding training in an easy-to-use interface.

The University of ŷ���ڱ���Ƶ is enriching the for the upcoming academic year – expanding the benefit’s value, eliminating wait times to register, and making the benefit more flexible for families with multiple college students. Policy changes were effective July 1.

Emily Adams, Associate Director of Communications, ADMIN
Emily has consistently gone above and beyond her role in service to CEAS. She has spent hours supporting Staff Council events, she volunteered as a representative on the CEAS Engagement Survey Committee as a member leading the cultivation of action items and facilitating listening sessions, and she is always willing to execute additional communications for the college to ensure we have an inclusive and informed environment. She executes her work with attention to our culture while maintaining positive interpersonal relations and completes what she commits to do with thoughtfulness and insight.

Jessica Rosso, HR Coordinator for Faculty, ADMIN
Jess brings together a wealth of knowledge of what needs to be done, how to do it, and why it is something we do; skillful organization that allows her to smoothly handle a large set of complex tasks, each involving multiple stakeholder input/reviews; and is exceptionally thoughtful in her attention to detail. Even when dealing with lots of things to get done, Jess notably takes the time to pause, review, and raise concerns to ensure that all our employees are being treated equitably.

Jess is polite and professional in all modes of communication. She works well with peers throughout the college and the university, both generously sharing her knowledge and seeking out advice from others as needed. She is devoted to the faculty and staff of our college. She is also someone whom can always be counted on to get things done properly.

Bernadette Garcia, Deputy Director, ŷ���ڱ���Ƶ Space Grant Consortium
Bernadette builds community every day, she genuinely cares for her team and for students, setting an extraordinary example of service to others. She is an advocate for diversity, inclusion and equality, and makes sure everyone is welcome and treated with respect at Space Grant. Bernadette creates a professional environment and values open and honest communication. Regarding accomplishment of goals, she is always on track, on time, and delivers exceptional, high quality work. 

Brett Wingfield, Director of Development (CS & AES), CEAS Advancement
Brett recently took on a major project for the Advancement team. He is coordinating a donor list that includes identifying donors who are capable and ready to make an estate gift. This list is 700 names long and Brett has been diligent about rating and sorting and providing detailed information to other team members. This work has been critical to raising additional philanthropy for the CEAS. Brett has been well organized and efficient in this project. He has gone above and beyond and should be recognized for the important contributions he’s made to the success of our fundraising efforts.

The Staff Career Development Program (SCDP) in the Department of Human Resources exists for all staff employed on the Boulder campus, and provides both individual advising and group career development on topics ranging from career exploration to job search strategies.
