Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ-Data Financial Statements
In this course, you will learn how to access the Cognos Reporting System, how to read statementsÌýand where to locate pertinent information on those statements. This m-Fin financial statements training is required prior toÌýgaining access to the PeopleSoft Finance system.ÌýPeopleSoft Finance system training is also required.
Learning Objectives
In this course, you will learn how to review the following Cognos reporting system m-Fin statements: Speedtype summary; Operating summary; Financial detail reports; Other information may be covered as time permits. You are encouraged to bring your own speedtypes and questions to class.
To provide a more flexible learning experience, we're developing a comprehensive resource library that will combine online materials with targeted live workshops (details coming soon!). In the meantime, live training sessions are on hold.

PeopleSoft Finance System
This training is designed to provide basic information for accessing and using the University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ's PeopleSoft Finance system.
Learning Objectives
TrainingÌýincludes: Finance system navigation; ChartFields; Reporting; Journal entries. Current Finance system users who would like a refresher course are always welcome and encouraged to attend.
Accounting 101
The Accounting 101 series is designed for departmental administrators and staff who have accounting or financial responsibilitiesÌýbut limited accounting or bookkeeping training. Plan to attend all four (4) sessions to receive the full benefit of the cumulative content and credit for completing the course.ÌýAre youÌýinterested in this training? Let us know!

This class covers the following and how they fit into the university environment:
- Assets, liabilities, owner’s equity, revenue and expenses
- Accrual vs. cash basis of accounting
- Debits and credits
- The accounting equation
- Balance sheet and income statement
Accounting 201
ThisÌýcourse will specifically focus on how accounting is managed at Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder. In addition, GAAP accounting concepts will be reviewed.ÌýAre youÌýinterested in this training? Let us know!

In this course, our area accountants will:
- CoverÌýrevenues and expenses, liabilities, and assets
- Provide an overview regarding Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder financial oversight
- Review Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ financial statements.Ìý
- Address how the fund types are differentiated
- Discuss what revenues and expenses can be recorded in our respective fundsÌý
This class will also cover Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder-specific policies, such as sensitive expenses, gift cards, donations, purchase of alcoholÌýand other topics.ÌýÌý
There are no prerequisites for the class, and while the content will be applicable to anyone involved with Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder finance, this class will not coverÌýbasic accounting concepts.ÌýFor those more interested in accounting basics,ÌýAccounting 101, offered in the fall, may be more beneficial.
