When will Hellems be closed for construction?

Provided the balance of the project is funded, Hellems will close for classes starting the summer of 2023 andÌýreopening in 2025.

During construction, where will the departments and offices in Hellems go?

Stay tuned! Swing space for the Hellems occupants will be housedÌýin a handful of locations. Once this plan is finalized, we will communicate it to the campus community via multiple avenues (including updates on this site).Ìý

During construction, will access around Hellems be affected?

Yes. Pedestrian traffic around Hellems will be adjusted to accommodate the construction. Keep and eye on Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder'sÌýCone ZoneÌýfor updates and maps once the plan is finalized.

How is this project funded?

We are grateful for Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder's partnership with the State of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ and their support. Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder will cover 60% of the cost and is requesting the State of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ pay for the remaining 40%.ÌýAs of October 2022, the state has agreed to fund the firstÌýand secondÌýphases of the project. In May 2023,Ìýthe thirdÌýand final phase was funded.

How much will Hellems' renovation cost?

Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder'sÌýbudget calls for roughly $105Ìýmillion to cover the renovation. This budgetÌýcovers planning, design and construction.

Who makes decisions about Hellems' design?

The design is driven by many factors includingÌýbuilding code, program needs, what the existing structure allows, historical preservation and input from stakeholder groups.
