    Private donations to the University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder rose about 29 percent to a record $145.8 million in fiscal year 2016, which translates into a range of new opportunities for students across a variety of academic disciplines.

    Students enrolled in a new internship program run by the Center for Asian Studies at Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder get real-world job experience and cultural immersion in Japan. Look for details on an information session in November. The center is currently identifying employers who will host student interns next summer. The deadline to apply is Feb. 1, 2017.

    The Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Shakespeare Festival is branching out in its efforts to curb bullying among young people in Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ schools. Beyond visiting schools with its "upstander" message, the festival - in partnership with the Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence, also based at Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder - has created an educational video with an important message: you have the choice to make your world a safer place.

    <p>Excitement for the Olympics in Rio is building for Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ alumni Jenny Simpson and Emma Coburn. The two track and field stars and training partners are aiming for gold when they compete in August at the XXXI Olympiad in Rio.</p>

    <p>BBA has been responsible for developing and promoting new professional master’s degrees at Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder for both on-campus and distance students. These services will now be expanded to all graduate education. With this move, the Graduate School will also be responsible for developing Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder’s Massive Open Online Courses, known as MOOCs.</p>

    <p>For Patrick Cruz, studying archaeological sites in southern Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ and northern New Mexico this summer was a way to hone his skills. But the trip also allowed Cruz, a Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder archaeology graduate student, to retrace the journey his Tewa ancestors made centuries ago.</p>

    <p>This summer, faculty and staff from across campus participated in the first-ever Student Affairs Service Days. Seventy participants volunteered with four local organizations over three different days, donating 246 hours of their time.</p>
