The Jennie Smoly Caruthers Biotechnology Building is a 336,800-square-foot research and teaching facility at the University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder. The building is located at 3415 Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Ave. on Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ-Boulder’s East Campus and was designed to facilitate collaborations between scientists and students from multiple disciplines to address critical challenges in the biosciences through collaborative research and teaching.

Two Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ student teams among top winners in international math modeling competition

Two University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder undergraduate student teams have been named among the 10 top winners from a field of 3,697 teams that entered the international Mathematical Contest in Modeling. Results of the 2012 contest were announced this month by the Consortium for Mathematics and its Applications. The contest took place at the students’ home institutions Feb. 9-13.

Student-built devices ranging from innovative new products to adaptive technology for people with disabilities will be among more than 60 student inventions showcased at the University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder’s Engineering Design Expo on Saturday, April 28. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held from noon to 3 p.m. at the Integrated Teaching and Learning Laboratory on Regent Drive south of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Avenue. Projects will be exhibited both indoors and outdoors on the Herbst Plaza.

Middle and high school teachers from across the Front Range will learn how to teach key math concepts to their students while introducing them to video game programming during an April 21 workshop at the University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder. Emmanuel Schanzer of Harvard University will lead the workshop sponsored by Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ-Boulder’s Department of Computer Science. Schanzer is the creator of Bootstrap, a computer programming tool that uses algebra to create images and animations.

Startup Gogy Inc. to develop Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ-Boulder interactive education platform

Startup company Gogy Inc. and the University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ have executed an exclusive licensing agreement that will enable the company to commercialize the Pedago.gy interactive teaching platform developed at Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ-Boulder’s Leeds School of Business. Pedago.gy is a Web application that creates a space for educators and students to engage in additional interaction and dialogue beyond the classroom. It provides a means whereby students and instructors can approach a topic in a collaborative fashion, rather than the typical expert-learner model found in most classrooms.
