State economy in mostly positive territory, as expected

The Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ economy continues to expand, outperforming the U.S. economy, according to a midyear economic update released July 15 by the Leeds School's Business Research Division (BRD). Employment in the state was up by 2.4 percent in May 2016. A total gain of 62,000 jobs in Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ is expected for 2016, nearly reaffirming the estimate given in December at the BRD's 51st annual Business Economic Outlook Forum .

After a small dip last quarter, the optimism of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ business leaders grew modestly for the start of 2016, according to the Leeds Business Confidence Index released today by the University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder’s Leeds School of Business. At 55.4, the overall first-quarter reading is up from 53.5 last quarter and down by 5.7 points from one year ago.

The announcement is part of the 51st annual Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Business Economic Outlook Forum presented by the Leeds School’s Business Research Division .
