ŷڱƵ Boulder students are invited to join the conversation about climate change, its impacts and how to forge a just path forward.
In partnership with the Right Now Global Climate Summit that ŷڱƵ Boulder is co-hosting with United Nations Human Rights in early December, ŷڱƵ Boulder is hosting a range of new, community-focused events. Two of the newly announced Think Globally, Engage Locally Panel Series events were developed with students in mind.
Sunday, Dec. 4, noon–1p.m.Byron White Club Level • Folsom Stadium
This event will feature panelists from politically diverse and bipartisan-oriented youth climate advocacy groups in a conversation with a ŷڱƵ student audience. The panel will be moderated by Matt Burgess, assistant professor of Environmental Studies. .
Sunday, Dec. 4, noon–1p.m. Rustandy Business • Engineering Bridge
Join this interactive and creative workshop for climate action. Together we will explore how to carry forth the wisdom from our ancestors to avoid the “unsustainable or scorched path” and chart our own course towards a “green path” for an equitable, survivable, and thrive-able future. Participants will receive an official UN ŷڱƵ certificate of participation. .
There are also numerouspanels that arepart of the international Right Here, Right Now Global Climate Summit.
The panel “Developing Climate Solutions With the Human Rights of Future Generations in Mind: What do youth have to say about that?” will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, in the Glenn Miller Ballroom on campus.
“These sessions give an even wider audience the ability to engage more deeply and in a localized way with the pressing global discussion around climate change and its impact on human rights,” ŷڱƵ Boulder Chancellor Philip P. DiStefano said. “This is a prime example of thinking globally and acting locally.”
