On Sept. 17, the authoring committee for the campus’s Diversity, Inclusion and Academic Excellence Plan will submit a draft of the document for the campus’s review.

Diversity and Inclusion Summit attendees sit in a circleBob Boswell, vice chancellor for diversity, equity and community engagement (ODECE), said,“Our working plan is a blueprint for action and progress in making excellence inclusive throughout the campus. Our goal is to improve diversity, equity and campus climate.”

The plan is authored by a 25-person committee representative of a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and administrators and will be posted on the ODECE website for review and community member input. ODECE will also host a series of town halls in which campus community members can offer direct input to the plan.

“We are looking forward to a dynamic exchange with our campus communities on shaping the plan,” Boswell said. “This is a historic moment for ŷڱƵ Boulder as we chart a course ahead with this plan, alongside the campus’s other important strategic initiatives such as Academic Futures and Foundations of Excellence.”

After the feedback process, a revising committee will take up the work of incorporating the campus’s feedback and suggestions, with the goal of having the plan serveas a guide to campus activity by the spring 2019.

The authoring committee’s work is the culmination of a three-year effort to build collaboration within campus units and among key campus partners, alongside the implementation of strategic innovations to make excellence inclusive. The plan builds upon these achievements.

“The plan is intended to be a living document. It will clearly outline our values. It will also identify the mechanisms, infrastructure and metrics we need for making excellence inclusive in concrete, sustainable ways,” Boswell said.
