Librarians from Oklahoma State University, the Indiana University and DePaul University were today announced as finalists for dean of University Libraries at ŷڱƵ Boulder.

Cinthya Ippoliti, associate dean for Research and Learning Services at Oklahoma State University (OSU); Robert McDonald, associate dean for Research and Technology Strategies at the Indiana University (IU) and Scott Walter, university librarian at DePaul University, were named finalists by a search committee chaired by ŷڱƵ Boulder Vice Chancellor for Research & Innovation Terri Fiez.

“These three excellent candidates impressed the committee with their vision, breadth of experience and dynamic thinking on the role and possibilities of archived information resources at a major research university like ŷڱƵ Boulder,” said Fiez.

Cinthya Ippoliti, Oklahoma State University

At OSU, Ippoliti leads the library’s academic liaison program and manages services for undergraduate and graduate students. She helped to create OSU’s Coalition for Advancing Digital Research and is leading the effort to develop a new Research and Innovation Commons at OSU, which is set to break ground in the summer of 2018.

Previously, she was head of Teaching and Learning Services at the University of Maryland, where she managed spaces, services and programming offered by the Terrapin Learning Commons.

Robert McDonald, Indiana University

At IU, McDonald provides library information system and discovery services to the entire IU system. At IU’s Bloomington campus, he manages projects tied to scholarly communications, new model publishing and technologies that support teaching and learning. As deputy director of the campus’s Data to Insight Center, he works on new research related to large data analysis, storage and preservation.

His research interests include technology management and integration of lean and agile frameworks, learning eco-systems, data cyberinfrastructure and big data analytics.

Scott Walter, DePaul University

At DePaul, Walter leads strategic planning and transformative change in the areas of library services, collections, information technology and facilities, as well as library assessment, communications and advancement.

He is overseeing the $12-plusmillion renovation of the John T. Richardson Library, including university-wide partnerships centered in the Learning Commons, Scholar’s Lab and Maker Hub. He also provides leadership for Chicago Collections, a Chicago consortium of libraries, museums and archives. He has authored or edited 25 journal articles, book chapters and monographs.
