SEEC buildingThe nextÌýEngagedÌýScientist Series lecture andÌýworkshopÌýis scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 19, and will focus onÌý"Uses and Practices of Community Dialogue in Geosciences and Environmental Sciences."

As communities increasingly grapple with problems of resiliency and environmental health and safety, scientists who are prepared to help are needed.ÌýThe Engaged Scientist series of free public talks and associated workshops for graduate students and post-doctoral researchers aims to equip scientists with community engagement skills.

Boulder Talks DirectorsÌýPhaedra PezzulloÌýand Leah Sprain of theÌýÅ·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵÌýCollege for Media, Communication and Information (CMCI) will give a public lecture on fostering community dialogue fromÌý4 to 5 p.m. if you plan to attend. Although registration for the lecture portion of the event isÌýrequested, it is not required.

Pezzullo,ÌýSprainÌýand SusanÌýSullivan, the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) education outreach director,Ìýwill thenÌýco-lead theÌýassociatedÌýworkshop for graduateÌýstudents andÌýpost-docs fromÌý5:30 toÌý8:30 p.m.Ìý, and dinner will be provided for participants.

Both eventsÌýwill beÌýhosted inÌýthe Sustainability Innovation Lab at Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ (SILC), room N290, at the Sustainability, EnergyÌýand Environment Complex (SEEC)ÌýonÌýEast Campus.
