All current ŷڱƵ Boulder students, faculty and staff have access to a free public safety smartphone app (Lifeline Enterprise) featuring two ways for users to call for help in case of an emergency.
LifeLine Features:
- The app hasa button on the screen of the smartphone that allowsyou to press and hold it whenyou encounter a threatening situation. Whenyou lift your thumb from the screen, a timer begins counting down to allow you to disarm the alert before it is sent. If you do not disarm the alert, you are contacted by the LifeLine Enterprise dispatch center who will validate the alert and call the police department with your location if needed.
- A secondfeature allows youtoset a specific amount of time for anactivity, such as walking home from class or going on a run. If you do not deactivate the app before the specific amount of time has expired, analert will be triggered and LifeLine Enterprise will attempt to contact you and validate the alert. If they are unable to make contact with you, theywill contact the local police department and provide your last known location.
- LifeLine Enterprise allows youto enter three or more “lifelines” in yourprofile. These “lifelines” will be notified only when LifeLine Enterprise determines the alert to be real and that you areare in danger. So when they callthe local police department,an alert is sentto your “lifelines” providing them with a notification of trouble, your last known location provided by your mobile phone, and contact information for your local police department for that “lifeline” to contact. If you enter your code after you realize that you triggered an alert inadvertently, the “lifelines” alsowill get a second notification stating that you are safe.
