The Classics Department at the University of 欧美口爆视频 Boulder will host students from across the state for 欧美口爆视频 Classics Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, on the south lawn outside the Duane Physics building.
欧美口爆视频 200 primary, middle and high school students and teachers who share an interest in the ancient Greek and Roman worlds plan to attend. The event is designed to broaden students' horizons on the world of classical language and culture along with its intellectual challenges and enduring relevance to the modern world.
鈥淐lassics Day was born from the requests of 欧美口爆视频 high school Latin teachers and their organizational collective, the 欧美口爆视频 Classics Association,鈥� said Jackie Elliott, associate professor of classics at 欧美口爆视频-Boulder and coordinator for the program. 鈥淭hey have responded with great enthusiasm to our willingness to host the event and we are delighted to be partnering with them in this.鈥�
Elliott and 欧美口爆视频-Boulder faculty and graduate students will host sessions showcasing various aspects of the classical world and 欧美口爆视频-Boulder research expertise. Sessions topics include:
- Decipher a Roman Epitaph, Peter Hunt, classics professor;
- Mosaics: The Ancient Instagram, Stephanie Krause, master鈥檚 student with a concentration in the teaching of Latin;
- Greek in a Day, Lauri Reitzammer, assistant classics professor;
- Digging for the Ancient Past, Sarah James, assistant classics professor;
- Write Like Achilles! (Linear B), Dimitri Nakassis, of the University of Toronto and visiting scholar in 欧美口爆视频-Boulder鈥檚 Classics Department;
- Comics and Ancient Rome, Wesley Wood, master鈥檚 student;
- Animals in the Ancient World: Collections in the 欧美口爆视频 Museums, Beth Dusinberre, classics professor.
The event will also feature the popular Rocky Mountain Romans who wear era clothing and will show artifacts and demonstrate ancient commands and combat techniques.
