Editors: State Rep. Ron Tupa (Dist. 14) will receive the first Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ license plates to be issued under the new program on Monday, Jan. 24, at 8 a.m. at the Boulder County Courthouse.
Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ residents can now purchase new University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ custom license plates through their county clerkÂ’s office.
The state legislature approved the specialty plates in spring 1998 and they are becoming available in January.
Trimmed with the mountains, the Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ plates are done in black and gold. "University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ" appears under the license number and Ralphie is featured in the center. Ralphie will not appear on plates with personalized messages.
Revenue from the plates will go to the Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ-Boulder Alumni AssociationÂ’s scholarship fund to help Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ students finance their education. A donation of $50 for Alumni Association members and $100 for nonmembers is charged for each vehicle. A one-year membership to the Alumni Association costs $35.
After receiving payment, the association will send buyers an official State of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ certificate that must be taken to the county clerkÂ’s office to obtain the plates. Standard registration fees still apply, plus a one-time $10 payment.
Call the Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ-Boulder Alumni Association at (303) 492-8484 or (800) 492-7743 for more information.
