NAMED 4th ROSENBAUM PROFESSOR OF LAW
Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ-Boulder law Professor J. Dennis Hynes has been named a Nicholas Rosenbaum Professor of Law by Law School Dean Harold Bruff.
The appointment was effective July 1. A reception is planned for Oct. 6 to honor the Rosenbaum professors.
Professor Hynes teaches contracts and law concerning agencies, partnerships, and limited liability companies and has written extensively on those subjects. His casebook "Agency, Partnership, and the LLC" is now in its fifth edition.
"I am pleased and honored to receive the Rosenbaum professorship, which was one of the early professorships at the law school," said Hynes. "It is humbling to receive this honor considering the extraordinary productivity and quality of scholarship produced by the faculty of the school of law."
Professor Hynes has a long history at the university, receiving his bachelor of arts degree from Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ in 1958 and his law degree from the Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Law School in 1960. Following graduation from Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ, Hynes was a teaching fellow at Columbia Law School from 1960-61 and an associate attorney with Shearman & Sterling in New York City before joining the Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ law faculty in 1964. He became a full professor in 1970.
The Nicholas Rosenbaum Professorship of Law was endowed by a gift from the estate of Nicholas Rosenbaum and is used to augment faculty salaries to attract and retain outstanding legal scholars.
"This is a richly deserved recognition of DennisÂ’ contributions to the school and the bar indicating his excellence in teaching, scholarship and service,"said Dean Bruff. Professor Norton Steuben also holds a Rosenbaum Professorship.
Hynes is the fourth professor to hold the title since its inception in 1991. There are currently nine professors, one fellow and one chair named distinguished members of the law school faculty.
