Thirty years ago three University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ at Boulder Law School graduates established the firm of Brownstein Hyatt Farber & Strickland, P.C. in Denver. Today they celebrated their 30th anniversary by giving their alma mater a $100,000 gift to be used for diversity student scholarships.
"We are grateful for the success we have had as a result of our law school education," said Managing Partner Steve Farber. "And we are proud to provide similar opportunities for many others to follow us."
Two Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Law School alumni and longtime members of the firm, Stan Garnett and Mark Leonard, presented the scholarship gift to Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ President John Buechner and Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Law School Dean Harold H. Bruff during a luncheon at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.
"The success of the law firm of Brownstein Hyatt Farber & Strickland demonstrates not only the acumen and professionalism of its partners, but also the influences of the University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ within the stateÂ’s legal and business communities," said President Buechner. "Three of the firmÂ’s partners are Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Law School graduates, who have gained great prominence in the affairs of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ business and government. In the process they have brought great distinction to the Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Law School."
Dean Harold Bruff said, "This contribution demonstrates the value in combining private support with public funding. The power of this type of partnering allows institutions of this state, both public and private working in a complementary relationship, to fulfill their intended purpose."
Gov. Bill Owens and Denver Mayor Wellington Webb were also in attendance, part of the nearly 600 well-wishers who gathered at the anniversary luncheon.
