The Study Abroad Program at the University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ at Boulder has awarded $124,123 in scholarship aid to 153 students enrolled in study abroad programs this year.
The aid comes from alumni donations, the Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Commission on Higher Education Diversity Fund, foundation donations and the programÂ’s auxiliary accounts.
Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ-Boulder enrolled 625 students in study abroad programs during the 1997-98 academic year, including summer ‘97. Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ 34 percent applied for scholarships.
Scholarship awards were based on financial need, academic standing and the studentÂ’s ability to write and be a good ambassador for the university and the United States.
In addition to the scholarships awarded by the Study Abroad Program, eight Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ-Boulder students received scholarships from the Japanese government, the Rotary Club of Boulder and the School for International Training. These scholarships totalled about $50,000.
Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ-Boulder currently offers 120 study abroad programs in 60 countries.
