The University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ at Boulder Latino Advocacy Committee in conjunction with United Mexican American Students (UMAS) and the University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Student Union will present three events celebrating Chicano History Week next week.

Events begin with the 1997 Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ-Boulder Bienvenidos Celebration, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sept. 17, on the lawn north of Regent Hall. A welcome picnic for new Latino students, the event will feature a taco bar and regional music. Latino students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends are invited to attend.

Other events will include a keynote address on Chicano history and self-identity by Rosemary Valladolid of El Paso, Texas. The address, titled “Creating Your Own Energy,” will be from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Sept. 18, at Old Main Chapel.

The celebration will wind up on Sept. 19 with a dance in the UMCÂ’s Glenn Miller Ballroom, beginning at 9 p.m.
