Trygve E. Myhren, president of Myhren Media Inc. of Denver, will give the Ralph L. Crosman Memorial Lecture March 13 at the University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ at Boulder.

The free public lecture sponsored by the School of Journalism and Mass Communication will be at 5 p.m. in Old Main Chapel with a reception following in the Heritage Center. The title is “The Future of the Media and Their Obligations in a Democratic Society.”

Myhren has received numerous honors and awards, including the cable industryÂ’s premier achievement award, the 1988 Distinguished Vanguard Leadership Award.

His Denver company invests in and advises media and communications companies. Previously he was president of the Providence Journal Co., owner and manager of the Journal-Bulletin newspapers and television stations as well as several TV networks and interactive and multimedia ventures.

He also was chairman and chief executive officer of American Television and Communications Corp., the cable subsidiary of Time Inc., now Time/Warner Cable.

Myhren has held executive and board positions in the National Cable Television Association and co-founded CTAM, the industryÂ’s marketing and programming organization.

He serves as board member of a variety of organizations and is a national trustee of the National Jewish Center for Immunology and Respiratory Medicine.
