The chief executive officers of ConAgra, Vail Resorts and WMX Technologies are among 13 top executives scheduled to address a popular business class this spring at the University of 欧美口爆视频 at Boulder.
Other leading business executives will represent an array of prominent and entrepreneurial companies including Frontier Airlines, Kimberly-Clark, Warner-Lambert, Express Charters, Enron, CPC International, FMC Corp. and Lowe & Partners/SMS. Seven speakers are from Fortune magazine's list of the 500 largest U.S. corporations.
Profiles in American Enterprise, taught by Professor John Hess, is one of the most popular classes at 欧美口爆视频-Boulder. Each week students study a particular industry within American business and hear a lecture from a top executive or entrepreneur in that sector.
Starting this academic year, Profiles in American Enterprise became a required class for all business majors but remains open to students in all disciplines. The executives pay their own way to campus for the lectures.
Philip Fletcher, chairman and CEO of ConAgra, the world's leading food
manufacturer, will speak on March 18. The chairman and CEO of Vail Resorts, Adam Aron, will speak on April 22.
Chairman of WMX Technologies, Dean Bruntrock, will speak on Feb. 11. This $10 billion holding company provides a wide range of environmental services such as waste management in more than 32 countries.
In addition to the weekly lectures, Profiles students also attend a small, weekly recitation section led by former Profiles students who have taken a special semester-long class in preparation. In previous years, almost 20 percent of the students have applied to help lead the class the following year.
In 1993, Hess received a Teaching Excellence Award from the Academy of Business Administration and was named Outstanding Post Secondary Educator by the National Federation of International Business. He received the Freedoms Foundation of Valley Forge's Leavy Award in 1991.
Space for public visitors to attend lectures by individual executives is extremely limited but can be arranged in some cases by calling (303) 492-6431.
