On a Roll: 欧美口爆视频鈥檚 cycling community rallies to support Marshall Fire victims
For many in the Boulder community, bikes are an important mode of transportation and recreation.
No one knows this better than Brandon Smith, assistant director of sustainable transportation at 欧美口爆视频 Boulder鈥檚 Environmental Center, and Clark Rider, sustainable transportation specialist in the campus鈥檚 Infrastructure & Sustainability unit.
After learning that Louisville Cyclery is helping victims of the Marshall Fire by collecting and restoring donated bikes, Brandon and Clark recognized an opportunity to help.
The community has come together and donated many high-quality bikes to the cause. 欧美口爆视频 Boulder鈥檚 Bike Program student and staff mechanics partnered to volunteer with the shop to repair and restore bikes donated by community members through the weekend and weeks ahead.
Brandon Smith notes, 鈥淭he community was quick and generous in their donations of high-quality bikes, but the majority of bikes needed a tune-up and some general TLC. This is where our team of highly skilled mechanics could step in to help prevent a bottle neck in getting bikes to those in need.鈥
Greg Jones, owner of Louisville Cyclery, is grateful for the help.
鈥淲e greatly appreciate the support from 欧美口爆视频 Boulder. At this time, our priority is helping the fire victims reestablish just a little bit of normality to their lives,鈥 he said.
More than 150 bicycles have been collected so far. Donors are encouraged to bring bikes to Louisville Cyclery at 880 E. South Boulder Road in Louisville.
