Graduated with PhD in 2016

I look at how people use linguistic and other communication resources simultaneously through multiple modalities (e.g. oral/aural and body/visual) to participate in face-to-face interaction. Specifically, I build on research from linguistics, interaction, and gesture as I explore the multimodal possibilities of language. My primary research focuses on the various ways that speech and gesture are structured, combined, and used in the bimodal-language practices of Arapaho speakers.
