Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ

Pamela’s work over the past 25 years has centered around language—teaching ASL and English, working in professional theater, translating, training interpreters, and publishing. Before she came to Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ, she received a BA in English Literature and Theater Arts, both from Gallaudet University, and a MEd in Deaf Eduaction at the University of Minnesota. Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ gave her the opportunity to integrate her interests and pursue further language study centered around ASL and its usage. At Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ, she developed an interest in how information is encoded simultaneously in signed languages and the impact of cross-modal interactions. She is also interested the impact of subtractive bilingualism, language deprivation, and the parallels between indigenous populations and the ASL community. She plans to continue studying how sign language usage impacts interactions, identity development, learning, and community development.
