We’re thrilled to welcome Assistant Dean for Strategic Initiatives Kate Cimino to our staff. “Music has shaped every phase of my life and the opportunity to work professionally in this capacity—to support the musicians and creative artists of the College of Music—is truly a joy,” says Cimino. “I’m excited to work alongside the dean and colleagues to advance the strategic and innovative efforts of the college, and to be part of the ŷ���ڱ���Ƶ Boulder community.”

• Our College of Music community mourns the recent passing of alumnus Ben Pollack (BME ’14). As a band and choral music educator with a track record of success, Pollack sought to influence large-scale changes in education through music and community.
• Graduate students from music and education have been awarded the 2023-24 Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad fellowship. Ethnomusicologist Lydia Wagenknecht will use the award to travel to Chile to study the effect of climate change on local music. Congratulations! 
• We’re super proud of Professor of Trumpet Ryan Gardner who’s currently ! The 48th annual ITG Conference—in Anaheim, California from May 28-June 1, 2024—is open to any trumpeter and trumpet enthusiast of any age and ability.
• “”: Congratulations to Professor of Piano David Korevaar and the Carpe Diem String Quartet for this terrific, well-earned review of their newly released CD—including the world premiere recording of Luigi Perrachio’s Piano Quintet. 
• (The Strad): Learn how Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 8 has been a life companion for Edward Dusinberre, first violinist of our Takács Quartet.
• Join a sustainability forum on Jan. 25; Climate Action Plan sessions Jan. 30, 31.
• Jan. 26: Don’t miss the deadline to participate in the College of Music’s Persevering Legacy concert on March 7. The concert will feature College of Music students performing music by women composers including those from historically marginalized groups. Students chosen to perform will receive a stipend of $120. !
