Chamber Music Showcase performances represent all departments, diverse repertoire: As the 2021-22 academic year races toward the finish line, there are still ! For starters, don’t miss the final two Chamber Music Showcase performances and on —in person or online—featuring student groups from every department, and including new group arrangements and diverse repertoire. Says Chamber Music Coordinator Meta Weiss, “With their faculty coaches, students in the college’s Chamber Music Program have been rehearsing, studying and crafting their interpretations of varied chamber music works all semester, and they’re excited to present them in the showcase concerts.” Learn more + join us! 

• (11:15 a.m.): Using Thelonious Monk’s music and his compositional and performance styles as metaphor alongside critical race theory, Joyce McCall of Arizona State University’s School of Music will illustrate how his music and other cultural artifacts can help college music programs confront racism and chart paths toward substantive change.

• Congratulations to Susan Thomas—the College of Music’s Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity + Inclusion, Director of the American Music Research Center and Professor of Musicology–for being recognized by the Boulder Faculty Assembly as a 2022 Excellence in Leadership + Service award recipient. On April 11, the 2022 Excellence Awards Ceremony will feature a keynote address by Barbara Demmig-Adams, a Hazel Barnes award winner.
