Hope Michelsen elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society

Mechanical engineering Associate Professor Hope Michelsen has been elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS).

The recognizes members who have advanced the field of physics through research and publication or have made significant innovative contributions by application of physics to science and technology. Each year, no more than 0.5% of the APS鈥檚 non-student membership is recognized for election to the status of Fellow of the APS.

Michelsen was nominated for APS Fellowship by the Division of Chemical Physics for 鈥済roundbreaking research in the chemical physics of combustion particulate formation and transformations, and for innovative and rigorous description of particle-radiation interactions.鈥

It has more than 55,000 members and publishes 14 physical review journals.
