With the academic year quickly approaching, Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Law is excited to welcome the incoming class of new students. Over the next few weeks, we will be highlighting some of our incredible 1Ls through a series of brief profiles. For our next 1L highlight, meet Machia Mullens (she/her).

Machia grew up on a farm in Liberal, Kansas, and attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City where she played collegiate basketball.   She currently works as a model with the Wilhelmina Denver agency.

Meet the class of 2026’s Machia Mullens!

What Inspired you to attend law school?

MM: I was initially inspired to attend law school because of my interest in advocacy. Through my many experiences as an advocate through collegiate sports, student involvement opportunities, and serving as a foster care advocate I have witnessed first-hand how important advocacy is in the lives of minorities.

What are your hobbies outside of work and school?

MM: Outside of law school I spend my time enjoying the outdoors, trying new foods, and working as a model.

Why did you choose to attend Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Law?

MM: I chose Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Law because of the institution's prestigious legal education, the amazing views in Boulder, and the incredible professors, staff members, and legal community I had the privilege of meeting during my visit to Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Law.

What are you most looking forward to this upcoming academic year?

MM: I am looking forward to making great connections with my peers, expanding my legal knowledge, and attending Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ athletic events.Â
