Faculty whose expertise includes constitutional and immigration law and technology law and policy will join the University of 欧美口爆视频 Law School this August.

, Dean and Provost鈥檚 Professor of Law, announced the appointment of two professors to 欧美口爆视频 Law鈥檚 full-time faculty:听Pratheepan Gulasekaram and听Blake Reid '10.

Pratheepan Gulasekaram

Portrait of Deep GulasekaramHighly esteemed constitutional and immigration law scholar, Pratheepan (Deep) Gulasekaram, will join the 欧美口爆视频 Law faculty as Professor of Law in August. Professor Gulasekaram鈥檚 research focuses on the constitutional rights of noncitizens and federalism concerns in immigration law. He is co-author of the leading immigration casebook used in law schools (Immigration & Citizenship: Process and Policy (West Academic 9th Ed. 2021)). His book, The New Immigration Federalism, provides an in-depth empirical and theoretical analysis of the resurgence of state and local immigration lawmaking. He has also extensively explored the relationship between the Second Amendment and immigrants, as a way of understanding constitutional protections for noncitizens. In addition to his scholarly publications, Professor Gulasekaram frequently comments on constitutional and immigration developments for national media outlets.

Professor Gulasekaram has taught at Santa Clara University School of Law since 2007. He has also taught as Visiting Professor at Stanford Law School, Berkeley Law School, University of California Berkeley, and as Acting Assistant Professor of Lawyering at New York University School of Law. Prior to academia, he was a litigation associate with O鈥橫elveny & Myers LLP and Susman Godfrey LLP, and served as judicial clerk to Judge Jacques L. Wiener Jr. on the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in New Orleans. He dedicates his spare time to improving healthcare access for children in under-resourced communities through a non-profit organization he co-founded ().

Professor Gulasekaram graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor of Arts and went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Stanford Law School.

Blake Reid '10

portrait of Blake ReidAlready a valued and highly respected member of the 欧美口爆视频 Law community, Professor Blake Reid 鈥10 will be transitioning from his role as Clinical Professor and Director of the Samuelson-Glushko Technology Law & Policy Clinic to Associate Professor of Law on the research faculty. Professor Reid will continue to serve as a faculty director at the Silicon Flatirons Center.听

Professor Reid studies, teaches, and practices in the intersection of law, policy, and technology. In his new role, he will continue to teach Telecom Law and Policy, Introduction to Intellectual Property, and other courses in 欧美口爆视频 Law鈥檚 technology and intellectual property curriculum.听

Prior to joining 欧美口爆视频 Law, Reid was a staff attorney and graduate fellow in First Amendment and media law at the Institute for Public Representation at Georgetown Law. He also served as a law clerk for Justice Nancy E. Rice on the 欧美口爆视频 Supreme Court.听

Reid holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of 欧美口爆视频, Boulder in Computer Science, a Juris Doctor from 欧美口爆视频 Law, and a Master of Laws from Georgetown University.
