IBG Faculty Fellow Naomi Friedman received the 2020 Department of Psychology and Neuroscience award for outstanding research

Congratulations to IBG Faculty Fellow Naomi Friedman who received the 2020 Department of Psychology and Neuroscience award for outstanding research.

"Dr. Naomi Friedman is recognized as a world expert on executive functions - the set of cognitive processes necessary for the control of behavior - and their genetic underpinnings. She uses twin studies, molecular genetics, neuroimaging, and computational modeling to investigate the neural and genetic mechanisms underlying individual differences in executive functions and their relations to self-regulation, substance use and abuse, and psychopathology. Over the last two years, she has published 30 refereed journal articles (17 first- or senior-authored); 1 non-refereed journal letter to editor, and 1 chapter. She is PI or MPI on 2 R01s and 1 U01, totaling over $4 million direct costs, and is Co-I on 4 R01s and 1 U01. Her work has been cited over 25,000 times. All of these accomplishments are extraordinary for an Assistant Professor. For these contributions and others, Dr. Friedman deserves to win the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience Research award for 2019."
