Amy has been selected to participate in the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) U.S.-Korea NextGen Scholars Program for 2015-16. The  is an initiative by CSIS Korea Chair and USC Dornsife Korean Studies Institute with support from The Korea Foundation to help raise the next generation of Korea specialists in the United States who will make long-term contributions to the U.S.-ROK relationship.

Amy was awarded a Fulbright U.S. Student award for 2013-2014. Amy will use this award to support her research work in China.

The [Fulbright U.S. Student Program]http://us.fulbrightonline.org/about/fulbright-us-student-program) provides grants for individually designed study/research projects or English Teaching Assistantships. During their grants, Fulbrighters will meet, work, live with and learn from the people of the host country, sharing daily experiences. The program facilitates cultural exchange through direct interaction on an individual basis in the classroom, field, home, and in routine tasks, allowing the grantee to gain an appreciation of others’ viewpoints and beliefs, the way they do things, and the way they think. Through engagement in the community, the individual will interact with their hosts on a one-to-one basis in an atmosphere of openness, academic integrity, and intellectual freedom, thereby promoting mutual understanding.

This Dissertation Proposal Development Fellowship (DPDF) from the Social Science Research Council and MIGRINTER, a research center of CNRS at the University of Poitiers enables Amy to participate in the 2012 DPDF program within the field of New Approaches to Transnationalism and Migratory Circulation, led by Professors Khachig Tölöyan, Emmanuel Ma Mung, and Thomas LaCroix, and to participate in two dissertation proposal development workshops in June and September 2012.

Austin Cowley, Ian Rowen, and Amelia Schubert have been selected as this years recipients of the department's Adam Kolff Memorial Research Fellowship. The fellowship provides $1500 toward research expenses for MA students.

Amelia Schubert has won a Foreign Language Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship from the Center for Asian Studies for the 2011-12 academic year. The fellowship will allow Schubert to study advanced Chinese language in preparation for her dissertation research on the Chinese sending communities of Korean-Chinese migrants to South Korea.
