Provost's Faculty Achievement Awards

The Provost’s Faculty Achievement Awards recognizes and celebrates the research, scholarship, and creative work of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder's faculty members. There areÌýtwo sets of awards: one to recognize the work and promise of pre-tenured faculty, and the second to recognize the accomplishments of recently tenured associate professors.

Distinguished Research Lectureship
Administered by the Research and Innovation Office, this honor is bestowed upon tenured, research or adjoint faculty for theirÌýdistinguished body of academic or creative achievement and prominence, as well as contributions to the educational and service missions of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder.


Boulder Faculty Assembly (BFA) Excellence Awards
The BFA Excellence Awards specifically recognize outstanding work of faculty and theirÌýconcerted effort to make advances in the academy.


Hazel Barnes Prize
The Hazel Barnes Prize is the largest and most prestigious single faculty award funded by Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder. Established in 1991 in honor of Philosophy Professor Emerita Hazel Barnes, the awardÌýrecognizes the enriching interrelationship between teaching and research.



This annual award recognizes significant achievements of full-time Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ faculty with the rank of professor;Ìýassociate professor; assistant professor;Ìýsenior instructor;Ìýor instructor,Ìýin developing a culturally and intellectually diverse university community reflective of inclusive excellence.



Lifetime appointment as a Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ President’s Teaching Scholar constitutes the university’s recognition of excellence in, and active commitment to, learning, scholarly teaching and research and creative work.



This award provides $10,000 to a full-time University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ faculty member who, in addition to his or her university responsibilities, has, pro bono, provided exceptional educational, humanitarian, civic or other service in the community.


Best Should Teach Awards
Managed by the Center for Teaching & LearningÌýin coordination with the School of Education and the College of Arts and Sciences,Ìýthe Best Should Teach InitiativeÌýstrives to acknowledge excellence in teaching and academic leadership.


Eugene M. Kayden Awards
These awardsÌýare intended to promote the completion of research and creative work in the arts and humanities, research leading to publication, and the celebration and dissemination of excellent arts and humanities research.ÌýThere are three kinds of awards: Kayden Book Awards, Kayden Research Grants,ÌýKayden Translation Awards.


Robert L. Stearns Award
The award recognizes members of the faculty and staff for extraordinary achievement or service in any one or combination of the following areas: teaching, service to the University, work with students, research or off-campus service.
