On April 25, 2019, the Creative Writing Association is hosted听the final portion of the Poetry Month Performer Series: a reading by Danez Smith! The event was听held in Club 156 (in the UMC).
Danez Smith is a back, queer, poz writer and performer from St. Paul, Minnesota. Danez is the author of听Don鈥檛 Call Us Dead听(Graywolf Press, 2017), winner of the Forward Prize for Best Collection, the Midwest Booksellers Choice Award and a finalist for the National Book Award, and听[insert] boy听(YesYes Books, 2014), winner of the Kate Tufts Discovery Award and the Lambda Literary Award for Gay Poetry. Danez is a member of the Dark Noise Collective and is the co-host of听VS with Franny Choi, a podcast sponsored by the Poetry Foundation and Postloudness. Danez鈥檚 third collection听Homie听will be published by Graywolf in spring 2020.
