COSINC to host hands-on Material 3D-Nanofabrication and Characterization Workshop

The 欧美口爆视频 Shared Instrumentation in Nanofabrication and Characterization (COSINC) facility will host a two-day workshop and training session on Material 3D-Nanofabrication and Characterization from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. April 21 and 22 on the 欧美口爆视频 Boulder campus.

Registration is open to students, staff, and faculty, as well as the broader university and Boulder community. The cost for University of 欧美口爆视频 system participants is $150, while the external nonprofit rate is $175, and industry is $350 鈥 all of which includes lunch on both days. Registration is limited to 18 people to ensure high-quality training time and interactions with the space, staff, and equipment.

COSINC Director Aju Jugessur said material nanofabrication and characterization techniques in a cleanroom are a critical part of the development and realization of miniature devices.

鈥淭hese miniature devices have a wide range of scientific and technological applications, ranging from quantum devices, photonic, electronic to photovoltaic, bio-medical and nanomedicine,鈥 he said. 鈥淪o we are looking forward to hosting a diverse set of researchers looking to expand their skills.鈥

COSINC is a multidisciplinary core research facility and service center, within the College of Engineering and Applied Science, that provides access to state-of-the-art equipment in the areas of micro and nanofabrication, nanomaterials characterization and metrology. It also offers expertise and advanced hands-on training in the same related areas. It is an open-research facility serving academic, industrial, and governmental researchers across campus and beyond.

During these hands-on sessions, participants will work in an ISO 5 cleanroom facility to learn the operation of various instruments and processes such as the 3D nano printer, scanning electron microscope, profilometer and wet processing. Participants will also fabricate 3D nanostructures and inspect their devices using material characterization tools. The skills and knowledge acquired in this workshop are applicable across multiple industries and useful for graduate work in various fields in engineering as well as the physical, medical and life sciences.

A tentative agenda for the workshop includes:

  • Lectures on Material Nanofabrication and Characterization
  • Lecture on 3D Nano printer and Applications (led by Nanoscribe)
  • Hands-on training on scanning electron microscope
  • Hands-on training in ISO 5 Cleanroom, on 3D Nano printer, laser writer, wet sample processing, profilometry
  • Tours of the Integrated Teaching Learning Program (3D Printing), the Electron Microprobe Facility and the Materials Instrumentation and Multimodal Imaging Core Facility

, and a certificate of completion will be provided at the end of the workshop. Email Jugessur with any questions.
