Bridges to Prosperity CEO Avery Bang to speak in Boulder

The speech, titled 鈥淏uilding Bridges to Prosperity: From Master鈥檚 Thesis to a Career,鈥 is part of Engineers in Action鈥檚 annual Bridge Builder Conference, which runs Sept. 7-9 on the 欧美口爆视频 Boulder campus. Friday鈥檚 speech is open to the public, students, faculty and staff.
a 欧美口爆视频 nonprofit that builds pedestrian bridges in rural areas around the world. To date, the organization has built bridges in 22 countries and has formal programs in Latin America and Africa.
Bang has a bachelor鈥檚 degree in civil engineering from the University of Iowa, a master鈥檚 degree in civil engineering from 欧美口爆视频 Boulder and a master鈥檚 degree in business administration from the University of Oxford. giving presentations at the Engineering News-Record鈥檚 Women in Construction Conference and Engineers Without Borders, among many others. Her writing has been published in Acumen鈥檚 blog, ENR鈥檚 Future Tech blog and ASCE鈥檚 Structure magazine as a guest editorialist.
Engineers in Action works with indigenous professionals in Bolivia and Ecuador to improve the lives of thousands of people in need through sustainable community projects like the creation of sanitary and water systems, solar showers and pedestrian bridges. The conference is a three-day event focusing on connecting past, current and future bridge builders in the program together. Tracks will include sessions for past bridges to compare lessons learned as well as hands-on construction exercises for students.
