#ILookLikeAnEngineer
Why did you choose engineering at 欧美口爆视频 Boulder?
I came to 欧美口爆视频 for their chemical engineering program. I wanted a school that would give me the resources to succeed, while giving me the support I needed. In 欧美口爆视频 Boulder I found both of those. Also, they had an excellent engineering program and financial resources that would allow me to become the educated woman I always dreamed to be.
What does #iLookLikeAnEngineer mean to you?
This campaign means there is beauty, education and diversity in engineering. We are finally breaking barriers and taking down stereotypes that cause challenges. Finally, women are being recognized by their potential and are being able to excel in these male-dominated environments. Through campaigns like this we hope to inspire future generations to follow their interest in STEM programs and show them that it is possible no matter where you come from.
Do you have a favorite quote or mantra?
Nothing is impossible. I live my life by this -- I have been able to conquer many challenges and have gone farther than expected!
What are your career goals?
I would like to be a production engineer and eventually be able to open my own brewery.
UPDATED: Recently, I had the opportunity to work in 3D printing applications focusing in structural materials and systems research. This opportunity helped me realize I'd like to focus in material science research and development and eventually move to scale up and production. I think my potential and skills will strive in these areas. Another career goal is to work globally; I believe that in engineering diversity is necessary and the best ideas come from a group with different backgrounds and mindsets. But at the end of the day, my main goal is to promote engineering to future generations, especially women. We need more bright, strong and determined women in this field, so together we can be the change we want to see in the world.
What are your hobbies?
I love to rock climb and do small art projects.
What do you enjoy most about engineering?
It gives you a new way to look at things -- more precise and analytical. Problem solving never seemed more fun!
What makes you unique?
A couple things unique about me: I love rock climbing and dancing, and my secret passion is art!
What are you up to these days?
I had an internship this summer with BASF working in Wyandotte, Mich. I worked in the R&D 3D printing applications; I focused in structural materials and systems research.
