The advent of music-based video games presents a proof-of-concept for alternative means of learning music. Although such games employ simplified controllers, there is no reason why this concept cannot be extended to actual musical instruments. With real-time note recognition, any instrument can be used to interact with the game where the user must play a specific note at a specific time. We will be building a system that is able to recognize musical notes from a musical signal with minimal time delay. We will have the music signal come in to our system through an audio cable and we will output MIDI data. MIDI data is a music standard and contains information on what notes are being played. Once the MIDI data is obtained, it will be sent to a PC to interact with software used to handle MIDI data. The computer will have an interface where the user is able to see what note was just played.</p></div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <h2> <div class="paragraph paragraph--type--ucb-related-articles-block paragraph--view-mode--default"> <div>Off</div> </div> </h2> <div>Traditional</div> <div>0</div> <div>On</div> <div>White</div> Tue, 21 Jun 2016 16:29:09 +0000 Anonymous 572 at /ecee FlatIron /ecee/2016/06/21/flatiron <span>FlatIron</span> <span><span>Anonymous (not verified)</span></span> <span><time datetime="2016-06-21T10:27:39-06:00" title="Tuesday, June 21, 2016 - 10:27">Tue, 06/21/2016 - 10:27</time> </span> <div role="contentinfo" class="container ucb-article-categories" itemprop="about"> <span class="visually-hidden">Categories:</span> <div class="ucb-article-category-icon" aria-hidden="true"> <i class="fa-solid fa-folder-open"></i> </div> <a href="/ecee/taxonomy/term/58"> Senior Design </a> </div> <div role="contentinfo" class="container ucb-article-tags" itemprop="keywords"> <span class="visually-hidden">Tags:</span> <div class="ucb-article-tag-icon" aria-hidden="true"> <i class="fa-solid fa-tags"></i> </div> <a href="/ecee/taxonomy/term/64" hreflang="en">2011</a> </div> <div class="ucb-article-content ucb-striped-content"> <div class="container"> <div class="paragraph paragraph--type--article-content paragraph--view-mode--default"> <div class="ucb-article-content-media ucb-article-content-media-above"> <div> <div class="paragraph paragraph--type--media paragraph--view-mode--default"> <div> <div class="imageMediaStyle large_image_style"> <img loading="lazy" src="/ecee/sites/default/files/styles/large_image_style/public/article-image/flatiron.jpg?itok=_0PGGk5j" width="1500" height="1125" alt="The two members of FlatIron"> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="ucb-article-text d-flex align-items-center" itemprop="articleBody"> <div><p>Team members:</p><ul><li>Lucas Greve</li><li>Thomas Horacek</li></ul><p>The overall design goal of our project is to create a wireless security and loss prevention device. Similarly, the grounds crews of sporting events have tiresome jobs that require going out to the fields to draw lines and shapes for the corresponding sport. To make these matters nearly effortless and very accurate, we plan on designing and building a robot that can create large recreations of text, pictures and/or follow user input paths. The robot will be able to accurately create drawings on a level platform using markers or chalk. Not only does our robot help with the tasks mentioned above, it also opens up a whole new medium for artists to work with and for kids and adults alike to express their imaginations, not to mention possible use as a rehabilitation device for the handicapped.</p></div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <h2> <div class="paragraph paragraph--type--ucb-related-articles-block paragraph--view-mode--default"> <div>Off</div> </div> </h2> <div>Traditional</div> <div>0</div> <div>On</div> <div>White</div> Tue, 21 Jun 2016 16:26:07 +0000 Anonymous 568 at /ecee 3DP /ecee/2016/06/21/3dp <span>3DP</span> <span><span>Anonymous (not verified)</span></span> <span><time datetime="2016-06-21T10:24:18-06:00" title="Tuesday, June 21, 2016 - 10:24">Tue, 06/21/2016 - 10:24</time> </span> <div role="contentinfo" class="container ucb-article-categories" itemprop="about"> <span class="visually-hidden">Categories:</span> <div class="ucb-article-category-icon" aria-hidden="true"> <i class="fa-solid fa-folder-open"></i> </div> <a href="/ecee/taxonomy/term/58"> Senior Design </a> </div> <div role="contentinfo" class="container ucb-article-tags" itemprop="keywords"> <span class="visually-hidden">Tags:</span> <div class="ucb-article-tag-icon" aria-hidden="true"> <i class="fa-solid fa-tags"></i> </div> <a href="/ecee/taxonomy/term/64" hreflang="en">2011</a> </div> <div class="ucb-article-content ucb-striped-content"> <div class="container"> <div class="paragraph paragraph--type--article-content paragraph--view-mode--default"> <div class="ucb-article-content-media ucb-article-content-media-above"> <div> <div class="paragraph paragraph--type--media paragraph--view-mode--default"> <div> <div class="imageMediaStyle large_image_style"> <img loading="lazy" src="/ecee/sites/default/files/styles/large_image_style/public/article-image/3dp.jpg?itok=Z4MhYAtb" width="1500" height="1125" alt="The five members of 3DP"> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="ucb-article-text d-flex align-items-center" itemprop="articleBody"> <div><p>Team members:</p><ul><li>Dominic Boiko</li><li>Tseng Ching-Han</li><li>&nbsp;Harout Hedeshian</li><li>&nbsp;Joel Meisinger</li><li>&nbsp;Frankie Ning</li></ul><p>The objective of this project is to engineer a fully operational three dimensional printer which could then be used to produce functional prototypes. Three-dimensional navigation data is required for XROVER's goal to be accomplished because the terrain presents elevation and orientation differences between rovers. With relay and 3D drive capabilities, the multi-rover system will be able to traverse the terrain and explore locations of interest that are obstructed from the MR. The boards need to be small and cheap in order to be used in the large scale wireless sensing networks we are proposing. Additionally, they will be exposed to the elements 24 hours a day and will need to be able to withstand rain, snow and hot and cold temperatures. Also, it is not viable to replace the boards' batteries often. They need to last months if not years. A method of building the optical components small enough to function in these endoscopes is to lithographically etch components into a photopolymer. To create objects on a scale this small, the process must be done quickly so that the optical properties of the photopolymer do not change before the etching is complete. We will prototype a system that uses a semiconductor laser to lithographically etch micrometer scale objects. A computer will act as an interface for the user and load the vector file into the system. The system will then extract the vectors, focus the laser at the corresponding coordinates in the photopolymer, and produce a lithographically etched object.</p></div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <h2> <div class="paragraph paragraph--type--ucb-related-articles-block paragraph--view-mode--default"> <div>Off</div> </div> </h2> <div>Traditional</div> <div>0</div> <div>On</div> <div>White</div> Fri, 17 Jun 2016 20:22:21 +0000 Anonymous 536 at /ecee
