Chris Myers named department chair
The Department of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering is pleased to welcome Chris Myers as Palmer Leadership Chair in Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering.
Myers comes to 欧美口爆视频 Boulder from the Department of Electrical and听Computer Engineering at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, where he was a professor and associate chair.
鈥淚鈥檓 extremely excited about the opportunity to lead the Department of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering at 欧美口爆视频 Boulder,鈥 he said. 鈥淲hile we face many challenges, there are tremendous opportunities for growth. In addition to working with my excellent colleagues within the department, I鈥檓 also looking forward to working with my peers within the college to foster new collaborations between our departments.鈥 听
Myers received his BS听degree in electrical engineering and Chinese history in 1991 from the California听Institute of Technology in Pasadena, California, and his master鈥檚 and PhD听degrees from Stanford University in 1993 and 1995, respectively.
He is the author of over 180 technical听papers and the textbooks听Asynchronous Circuit Design听and听Engineering Genetic Circuits. He is also a co-inventor听on four听patents. His research interests include asynchronous circuit design, formal verification of analog/mixed听signal circuits and cyber-physical systems, and modeling, analysis听and design of genetic circuits.
Myers听received an NSF Fellowship in 1991, an NSF CAREER award in 1996, and best paper awards at the 1999 and 2007听Symposiums on Asynchronous Circuits and Systems. He听is a fellow of the IEEE听and a member of the editorial boards for听ACS Synthetic Biology,听Engineering Biology听and听Synthetic Biology, and has served on the editorial boards for the听IEEE Transactions on VLSI Systems,听IEEE Design & Test Magazine,听IEEE Life Sciences听Letters听and听Formal Methods in System Design.
He served as the director for the State of Utah Center of听Excellence in Asynchronous Circuit Design. He听is also a leader in the development of standards for systems and synthetic biology.听In particular, he has served as an editor for the Systems Biology Markup Language (SBML) standard, is the chair of the听steering committee for the Synthetic Biology Open Language (SBOL) standard听and is the chair of the coordination听board for the Computational Modeling and Biology Network (COMBINE).
Myers takes the reins July 1 from Professor Robert Erickson, who has been serving as interim department chair since 2018.
