Team DISC
Team DISC is creating the first smart disc golf driver. We are 3D printing a disc gold driver in similar weight and style as a typical Innova Driver. The smart disc will be powered from three rechargeable lithium ion batteries, and will contain a microprocessor, Bluetooth, GPS module, power switch, push button, micro USB charger and various supporting electronic components. The smart disc will communicate with the TESLA app via your android device. When you arrive at the disc golf course you will pull out your android device and sign into the TESLA app. Then you will pull up the map course, at which time will display the map of the entire course including tee pad locations and basket locations. It will point out where the first basket is. Once you are at the first basket you will push the push button to let the disc know you are ready to throw. The Led will blink once the disc is ready for you to throw. You will then throw the disc. The GPS will be polling and recording data so it may produce an approximate trajectory of the flight the disc took. Once the disc lands you have two options. You either walk over to the disc or continue normal play, or you cannot find your disc. Then you will use the find my disc location which will use Bluetooth communication to receive the last known location of the disc. Once you have that location you will walk over to your disc. Then you will hit the push button again and continue this process for the rest of the game. Each time you push the push button you will update your score and transmit your last throw data to your phone. The application on your phone will allow you to review past game stats such as your score on each hole, as well as overall score. You will be able to post to Facebook and look at the game stats of your friend. The smart disc will enhance the game of disc golf as we know it.
