AMPLIFY: The November 28th Faculty Fellows Edition: Engineering Students Design Assistive Technology for People with Disabilities

Faculty Fellows edition

On the November 28th edition of AMPLIFY, host Jennifer Ciplet and her guests discuss an exciting collaboration between the non-profit community organization  which works with people with disabilities, and the University of 欧美口爆视频 Boulder College of Engineering and Applied Science. Today's guests include Professor Melinda Piket-May, 欧美口爆视频 Boulder engineering student Sarah DaFoe, and Director of Public Relations at Imagine!, Fred Hobbs.

Through this university-community partnership, 欧美口爆视频 Boulder engineering students develop assistive technology that supports people living with developmental, cognitive and physical challenges. To see examples of the assistive technology 欧美口爆视频 Boulder engineering students have created with Imagine clients, .

欧美口爆视频 Engage was excited to learn about this program when Associate Professor of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering, Professor Piket-May, applied for and joined the 欧美口爆视频 Engage Faculty Fellows program. Piket-May was a member of the 2017-18 cohort of 欧美口爆视频 Engage Faculty Fellows, which included 欧美口爆视频 Boulder faculty doing innovative, community-based teaching and research from across campus and a wide range of academic departments. Professor Piket-May works with her 欧美口爆视频 Boulder undergraduate students to integrate engineering theory with real life engineering design problems, especially engineering challenges that could assist people living with disabilities.

AMPLIFY: Stories of University-Community Collaborations is a production of 欧美口爆视频 Engage, the Center for Community-Based Learning and Research at 欧美口爆视频 Boulder, in partnership with independent community radio . The show aims to amplify the voices of students and community partners who are working together to generate new knowledge and actions to address  public challenges.

You can listen to AMPLIFY live on KGNU every fourth Wednesday of the month at 9am. www.colorado.edu/cuengage/AMPLIFY
