ŷڱƵ is a great place to see — and hear — birds: Some 500 species have been observed here, more than in all but a handful of other states.

Here, Coloradan Editor Eric Gershon speaks with Nathan Pieplow, a former editor of the journal ŷڱƵ Birds, who teaches writing and rhetoric at ŷڱƵ. Former ŷڱƵ Boulder campus architect Bill Deno (Arch'72; MA'73) talks with the Coloradan about ŷڱƵ Boulder’s campus aesthetic, “Tuscan vernacular,” developed by Charles Z. Klauder in the early 20th Century.

 

From 1918 to 1938, notable ŷڱƵ architect Charles Z. Klauder designed 15 buildings around campus. If he visited today, what might he say? Bill Deno has some theories.

Sam also talks about a band he once played in called the Dead Sea Trolls — and how he managed to learn 26 ancient languages.
