Homecoming Weekend is Oct. 13-15

Come back to campus this fall for three action-packed days during Homecoming Weekend,ÌýOct. 13-15. Celebrate outstanding Forever Buffs atÌýour Alumni Awards Ceremony on campus, enjoy freeÌýappetizers at our Buffs Bash on Pearl Street, tasteÌýbrews by local alumni at Koenig Alumni CenterÌýand reunite with college friends or make new ones.ÌýCap it off with a rush of excitement as Ralphie lapsÌýFolsom Field before the Buffs play Arizona State onÌýSaturday, Oct. 15.Ìý

New Backyard for KoenigÌý

Built as a residence for Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ’s first president, KoenigÌýAlumni Center is now 132 years old — but the newÌýbackyard is vintage 2016.ÌýOn April 28, after six months of demolition andÌýreconstruction, the expanded and newly landscapedÌýproperty hosted its first big event, Grad Bash, theÌýAlumni Association’s annual festival for graduatingÌýseniors. More than 1,800 attended.ÌýThe Koenig property, which hosts about 200Ìýevents a year, including scores of weddings, nowÌýoffers an additional 1,800 square feet of outdoorÌýspace, a new gazebo and a giant, all-weather 20-footby-40-foot tent. Landscapers planted locust trees,Ìývinca vine and peonies and laid fresh sod.Ìý

The Latino Alumni Association is hosting its annualÌýChile Open Golf Tournament on July 16 at Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵÌýNational Golf Club. In its 30-year history, the tournamentÌýhas raised nearly a million dollars in scholarshipÌýfunds for Buffs. … If you’re a Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ vet, consider joiningÌýthe Veterans Alumni Club spearheaded by Rex LacebyÌý(Hist’02) for a network of comradery and support.Ìý… The GLBT alumni club, led by Jessica PoliniÌý(Law’09), raised money to support two scholarshipsÌýfor GLBT students for the 2016-17 school year. …ÌýThere are two new Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ chapter leaders: MaurissaÌýMcCarthyÌý(Art’09) is co-leading the NorCal chapterÌýwith Kayleigh Lloyd (PolSci’10), and Ben KeadyÌý(Fin’13) and Cody Mothersell (Mgmt’04) are headingÌýthe Sacramento chapter. … Finally, the DirectorsÌýClub’s biggest event of the year, the Directors ClubÌýAnnual Conference, was scheduled for June in ÌýKeystone,ÌýColo. The agenda included a golf tournamentÌýand talk from Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ physics professor Steven Pollock, aÌý2013 U.S. Professor of the Year.Ìý
