Making Connections

CMCI recently celebrated the first cohort of students to complete Connections: CMCI Summer Academy, a week-long summer experience that gives high school students a preview of college life and introduces them to current students, staff and faculty.

Rerooted: An Artist’s Journey

While preparing her master’s thesis, Autumn Tyler (MMediaSt’20) traveled 4,395 miles and took over a thousand photographs of Black LGBTQ+ artists for an exhibit called Roots. Self. Gaze. Now earning her PhD in media studies, Tyler writes that the experience taught her that, in order to move forward and grow, sometimes you must return to your roots.

This summer, she took on yet another project: entrepreneurship. Commemorating both Juneteenth and her grandmother’s 71st birthday, she launched the Tech Chaplaincy Institute on June 19, 2020.
